A public authority or a private service provider may acquire tacit servitude through a private country on the basis of the public service it provides. For example, a local authority may be responsible for the installation and maintenance of the sanitation system in an urban area. The mere fact that it has this responsibility, usually enshrined in certain laws or local laws, may give the Authority the right to enter private property under tacit servitude to carry out installation and maintenance. The location of the seservability is usually not specified, but their general position is defined by the service route (i.e. the pipes in this example). Electricity and water pipes may also have related services, but drainage and rainwater systems are generally well defined on the site and are listed in cover documents for private land. In some jurisdictions, if the use is not hostile, but if the real or implied consent of the rightful owner is given, the prescribed servitude may become a regular or implied servitude and not a compulsory servitude and become immediately compulsory. The long-standing Irish Lissadell House case, negotiated since 2010, in which long-standing consents granted to individuals have been transformed into a public right of way, is one example.
